Jerry Poteet originally met Bruce Lee while he lived in Oakland while visiting with the late Kenpo master, Ed Parker. Although he was not a student of Bruce Lee's until 1967, he continued to admire his prowess as a martial artist. Poteet attended both the LA kwoon and Lee's backyard classes (Lee's school closed down in 1969). Poteet later became a regular at Dan Inosanto's academy and was once listed as a certified full instructor under him. When the movie, "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" was made, Poteet was hired to train the lead actor, Jason Scott Lee, for his role as Bruce Lee. This led Jerry to further his career in the film industry as a fight choreographer. Currently, Mr. Poteet has one of the few thriving JKD organizations in the world with new schools opening up monthly. He has released two sets of videos and and a new book on the art of Jeet Kune Do.
